Risk is managed before the claim
Insurance answers afterwards. What avoids the problem is what happens before: vetted suppliers, a checked route and watching the operation while it runs.
So cover does not replace risk control, it closes it. It is the last link, not the first.
Online purchase is not available yet and we do not talk about it as if it were. Today cover is arranged with a specialist.

The policy is attached to the shipment, not filed somewhere that only surfaces once something has gone wrong.

If something happens, the claim is handled by whoever knew the operation from origin, with the milestones already recorded.
